There is a great deal of evidence that Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is an effective treatment approach for a range of emotional problems. CBT is now considered the Gold standard treatment for depression and anxiety and the techniques used in therapy are tried and tested.
In recent years CBT has expanded to include compassion focused therapy and mindfulness approaches.
According to the Royal College of Psychiatrists,
“CBT is the most effective psychological treatment for moderate to severe depression and one of the most effective where anxiety and depression is the main problem”.
